Principal, GEMS Wellington Primary School
Sarah O’Regan is an accomplished, forward-thinking Primary Principal with a simple, overarching objective to maximise all students’ potential and ensure that every student is safe and happy. Sarah joined GEMS Education in 2011 as Assistant Principal of GEMS Wellington Academy, Dubai Silicon Oasis (WSO), before taking up the role of Primary Principal of the same school in 2015. In 2020, she became Principal of GEMS Wellington Primary School.
At WSO, Sarah led the primary school through nine KHDA inspections and two BSO inspections that resulted in an Outstanding rating. She oversaw the school’s Executive Leadership Team, ensuring progress was made towards agreed strategic priorities. Her work in terms of Primary assessment, data and reporting ensured timely and accurate reporting to parents, and effective use of data by teachers to modify lessons and personalise learning, which led to improved attainment and progress data in external assessments. She also designed and implemented an integrated enrichment programme to enhance opportunities for competence development, while at the same time driving the Academy’s digital vision and culture of innovation.
Prior to joining GEMS, Sarah served as Senior Leader at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Primary School in Essex, UK, where she led the Foundation Stage and Key Stage One as well as acting as SEN and EAL lead. Sarah’s UK-based education experience also includes a four-year spell at two other primary schools in Essex, where she again led the Foundation Stage and Key Stage One as well as English, Maths, PE and PSHE.
Sarah has a BA/QTS – Qualified Teaching Status from University of Surrey as well as numerous additional qualifications including Corporate Coach U, Level 3 Safeguarding, GEMS Train the Trainer, Pacific Institute Cultural Awareness, CACHE Assessor, and National College for School Leadership
Leading from the Middle. She also has a passion for skiing and travelling.
