GEMS Wellington Primary School

Key Stage 1

KS1
In key stage 1 we offer a broad and motivating curriculum with many amazing learning opportunities. We encourage children to be diligent and hard working. Our expectations are high and we instill, in the children, a sense of pride and achievement in everything they do. We look at the children’s preferred learning styles and help them to understand themselves as learners.

We put emphasis on the presentation of the children’s work and monitor their organisational skills. Children learn to enquire, question, hypothesise, use their imagination and develop their creative, mathematical and language skills. We also ensure that our pupils develop the social skills to be confident and responsible members of their class and school community.

There is ample opportunity for their efforts and achievements to be recognised and celebrated through our congratulations awards. We also ensure that there is an emphasis on fun and lots of practical experience both inside and beyond the school.
