Welcome to the Foundation Stage where children learn through play. We offer a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities during the day.
The Foundation Stage provides a mixture of child initiated and adult led activities. The classrooms are set up in a variety of learning areas where daily adult led activities are planned. Children are able to choose from a wide range of resources to initiate their own learning.
All of the Foundation Stage classrooms are centred around a large shared learning area which children have daily access to. This area provides a wider range of resources for the children including sand and water play. We provide hands on learning activities covering a wide range of topics and the children’s interests.
During the cooler months we use the outdoor areas to extend the children’s learning, we provide an outdoor classroom. The Foundation Stage has two playgrounds, one with climbing equipment and one with bikes. Children have daily access to these playgrounds.
The Foundation Stage curriculum covers the following areas of learning:
- Personal, social and emotional development
- Communication, language and literacy
- Mathematics development
- Knowledge and understanding of the world
- Physical development
- Creative development
All areas have equal value in our curriculum but personal, social and emotional development underpins everything we do with the children. Children develop a wide range of independent skills during their time in the Foundation Stage.
