The Extra Curricular Activities Programme is an integral part of GEMS WPS and provides a rich variety of activities for children to participate in after the academic programme has finished. Children in Foundation Stage (3 - 5 year olds) do not participate in the GEMS WPS extra –curricular programme.
However, there are a number of professional external providers of sports activities that are made available to FS 2 children during the year. These companies charge for their services and invoice families directly. In Years 3 to 6, children have the opportunity to take part in up to 2 GEMS WPS extra-curricular activities per week and as many externally provided activities as they wish.
Physical Education and Sports
The sports programme for is extensive and offers GEMS WPS children the opportunity to develop skills in squads that they have learnt in lessons. As they become able, competition becomes more important with interschool fixtures throughout the year.
GEMS WPS will run a seasonal sports programme with teams regularly competing against other BMSE schools in the region.
Music
The musical aspect to the extra-curricular activities programme is also strong with choirs for different ages of children as well ensembles and music clubs to engage the interest and enthusiasms of all children.

The instrumental tuition programme continues throughout the school day and into the early evening to give as much opportunity as possible for GEMS WPS children to have individual music lessons. Private instrumental tuition will also be offered at school or musical activities such as choir or recorder club.
Our Music Program provides opportunities for all children to participate in a variety of musical activities and events. Some of these events will include choral evenings, musical productions and assemblies, as well as concerts with visiting Musicians and those in the local community. Class assemblies often give students a chance to show their talents.
In Music classes students will learn to use musical concepts and vocabulary through interactive singing, listening and writing activities. The exploration of Sound, Pitch, Rhythm, Orchestration and many other topics is an ongoing process of active participation through which students discover and expand their knowledge of the Musical World both present and past.
Arts
Many opportunities will be provided for children to perform and enjoy the response of an audience at GEMS WPS. All students will be encouraged to prepare and participate in at least one ‘Open Assembly’ per year. There will be drama/music productions throughout the year.
The After School Programme
GEMS WPS offers activities for children after 2:30 pm from Monday to Wednesday. GEMS WPS also offers paid activities for children after 1:15 pm on Thursdays. These activities include:
We are also delighted to offer activity for FS2 ONLY. Children will have the opportunity to join in Arts & Craft. This is a brilliant opportunity for children to explore different materials, fabrics and paper, by cutting, sticking and pasting them to create artworks.
