Celebrating and rewarding success
Dubai International Film Festival
The children in Key Stage 1 and 2 were asked to enter an Art competition for the Dubai International Film Festival. Seong in Year 6C loves the movie “How to Train a Dragon” so much that he created a picture of his favourite movie winning him first place in the age 9-12 category. Seong will now attend a special gala screening of a movie during the festival and receive a certificate for his efforts. GWPS are very proud of you Seong.

Gymnastics Competition in London
Well done to Kaylynn Niango (Year 6), here is her account of her gymnastics experience:
"I was very excited and proud to be part of my first International Rhythmic Gymnastics Competition (London, Dec 2012). I have been a gymnast from the age of 4 and practice here in Dubai 7.5 hrs. per week with the Du Gym organization. I was chosen to compete internationally because I came 1st in last years “Dubai” Rhythmic Gymnastics’ competition. The London’s International competition was long and very challenging, but this experience has taught me a lot and I am very grateful to have been part of it. I would like to take this opportunity to advise children, younger or older, to practice sports and other forms of art. This will help in their development and may present them with an opportunity like mine!"
On November 17th GEMS Wellington Primary School golfers took part in the Grass Roots Golf Inter School Tournament against 10 other International Schools at the Emirates Golf Course. Following a superb round of golf, GEMS Wellington Primary School topped the leader board with Yoon Sung Lee (Year 4), Viggo Sorensen-Grall (Year 4) and Omar-Luciano Blaskowitz (Year 5) achieving the best combined scores and securing a fantastic victory for the school! Yoon Sung Lee also won the best overall performer of the tournament! Watch out McIlroy, Donald and Woods, here come the boys from GWPS!
A super achievement for Maahir Bachani from class 2A, for receiving a certificate and medal on successfully completing level 2 of the BrainOBrain’s skill Development Programme. Well Done Maahir!
